Bureau County ESDA EOC Severe Weather Operational Status

To help clarify the operational status of the Bureau County ESDA EOC in relation to severe weather watches and warnings, EOC Communications staff developed a system of codes that will be used by EOC staff when making weather announcements on Amateur or ESDA frequencies. Because the EOC does not activate for all watches and warnings, the intention is to clearly communicate whether the EOC is active and taking check-ins and field reports, or if an alternate source for information exchange is in use. The following are the codes...

Condition GREEN weather status - Watch in effect; no EOC activation
Condition YELLOW weather status - Watch in effect with EOC activation
Condition RED weather status - Warning issued; no EOC activation
Condition BLACK weather status - Warning issued with EOC activation

During an EOC activation, the primary or alternate NCO will have details about the event and any net check-in procedures or pertinent safety information.

Please share this information with your local spotter groups at your earliest convenience.
